Is the iCloud really an iWant?
By ceth320
Everyone is buzzing about the new apple wonder. With the success of the iPod, to the iPhone, and to lately, the iPad, Steve Jobs is introducing a new service: the iCloud...
OooooOooO... iCloud, sounds convenient and easy, now we can store access our files on ANY mobile device!!! YAY!
Not exactly. With the influence of the media, today's "cool", and the awesome name, the consequences of the iCloud's "convenience" aren't considered by many...
With the iCloud, you lose...
1.Your Privacy
Somewhere up in the clouds is you're picture of your baby son smiling, oblivious that some stranger all the way from New Mexico can see it. With data stored over the web, its a LOT easier for hackers to steal your private information. If the data can flow from your computer to any other computer you want in the country, the data can EASILY flow to a hacker's.
2. Your Control
With everything you own on apple's "cloud", the control of your files is now up to you AND apple. Now apple can see and do whatever they want with not just your itunes songs, but EVERYTHING from photos, to personal messages to a boyfriend. Where's your grip in what apple does with your data? If there's one thing that Steve Jobs likes the most, IT'S CONTROL.
3. Your Freedom
Currently there are so many computer-based companies out there. With the iCloud, you are limited to using only, or mostly apple's apps and Gadgets. For the sake of the economy, please don't limit yourself to only apple products!
.......
So is the iCloud really going to be that great?
I don't know. But I do know that being a person who likes to be in charge. I definitely DO NOT want apple meddling with MY stuff.
Are you going to get the iCloud?
